Cheryl Swartout
Cheryl was born and raised in Canandaigua. She has been married to her high school sweetheart, Steve, for 42 years. She has three grown children and four grandchildren. Cheryl is a graduate of Canandaigua Academy, has a bachelor of science in education from Keuka College and a masters in education from Nazareth College of Rochester. Cheryl has a certificate of teaching from New York State for nursery through grade 6. Upon graduation from Keuka College, Cheryl moved to Vermont where she taught at a preschool/kindergarten and then taught math and reading intervention through Title I for grades K-6. Cheryl moved back to Canandaigua to start her family and worked part time as a substitute teacher for grades K-5 in the Canandaigua School District. At this time, she attended Nazareth College and earned a masters degree in 1992. From 1996 through 2020 Cheryl worked for the Canandaigua School District, as an interventionist for grades 3-5 doing mostly math intervention, but also doing some reading intervention. Cheryl retired from the Canandaigua City School District in June of 2020. She stays active with her two grandchildren who attend the Canandaigua Schools and visits with the two grandchildren who live in Chicago.
